The word “spazz” is used in a hit song by Canadian rapper Drake. The term is considered a derogatory term for a form of Down syndrome, spastic hemiplegia, which is a medical term. Also in June, Lizo released her album “Grurls”. However, there are concerns about the perception of disabled groups.
Lizzo said she never wanted to say anything hurtful. Disability rights activist Hannah Devine tweeted that Beyoncé was “smacking the disability community in the face”.
Why is spazz a bad word?
The word “sleepy” is often used to describe a child who is in kindergarten. Or if they say something stupid, the young people talking on the train say to each other, “Fuck.” “Disabled” and “spastic” are now derogatory terms used to describe people with disabilities. Unfortunately, we often hear these words from older people. Adults can be stupid and say things like “I’m spam” or “You guys are mean” when couples argue.
